Type:b is a new Korean Hip Hop duo with a lot of talent and potential. Both members have done a lot in the Korean music industry already and are now binding their talents to start this power duo.
Z-NU, the oldest of the two, was in a Kpop group called Victor. With that group he traveled to the UK and the Netherlands, being the support act to big Kpop star Jay Park. He also worked together on a song with a group called One.Case. The Korean-Australian member Isaac was in the group M.I.K and had some solo projects.
The duo met each other in the year 2014 and found out that they both have a strong passion for making the same style of music, which is hip-hop. Now they just released their debut MV, under AQ entertainment. KNL was lucky enough to do an interview with them!
INTERVIEW
Isaac: Hey whats up we in the house Type:b!
Z-NU: Hi, I’m Z-NU, the big brother if Type:b. A lot of you probably know me as Gyum from Victor. As I came back with a new name in a new group, I will bring you more dynamic music and rap.
2. How and when did you guys meet?
Isaac: We met when we were idol rappers at a different company.
Z-NU: I met Isaac, who was working on his solo album, at a studio where I used to work on mixtapes.
3. Why did you choose for the name Type:b?
Isaac: Simple! Because we both have blood type B.
Z-NU: Both of our blood types are B and there are a lot of nice words starting with B so we had no reason to think twice about it.
4. You guys are a Hip Hop group, but would you like to cover other music genres as well?
Isaac: Yes definitely looking at the edm market looking to do hiphop, electronic and house music.
Z-NU: I like all kinds of music. I will end up doing raps but if I get to have chance, I want to let you hear different kinds as well.
5. Which artists do you look up to and who inspires you to make music?
Isaac: For me it would have to be Jay Z, Kayne West, Big Sean and Will.I am. I just to name a few because they are great artists and personally my father is my inspiration.
Z-NU: I like Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, and Eminem. Of the ones from Korea, a lot of them are great but I worked on my dream of becoming rapper with music from Tablo and P-type.
6. With which Korean or international artist would you like to collaberate?
Isaac: Big Sean and Will.I am because they are big name trendsetters at the moment it would be great to do a collaboration with them!
Z-NU: Collaboration with the ones I mentioned above would be a great compliment for me. Besides those, I would love to work with Hyukoh or Zion.T which are hot these days.
7. What do you like to do besides making music?
Isaac: I like all kinds of sports such as soccer and tennis. I also like composing songs.
Z-NU: I used to like playing soccer, basketball, and table tennis but it has been awhile so I’m not sure if I still can play them well.
8. Would you like to perform in Europe, if so which countries?
Isaac: Yes we have confirmation for Belgium and Netherlands starting on October 30th and looking at France also.
Z-NU: I might be performing in the Netherlands and Belgium somewhere either in the end of October or beginning of November but I will let you know when it’s definite.
9. What are your plans for the future?
Z-NU: We want to introduce Type:b to people in different countries.
10. Do you have a message for the Dutch fans?
